Manage Users

This interface is used to manage useraccounts on a server or in a domain. Users are listed from the Domain, Server or Active Directory Domain (OU) that you have selected on the main interface screen. In this case we have selected the dev.dware.com AD-Domain. To view properties for a specific user, just click the user and the properties will be shown in the right pane.

You may edit and update all properties shown, the page does not contain all properties for NT and specificly AD accounts but includes the most useful and commonly accessed. The password for the user can be set by pressing the "Set Password" button.

If you select the group memberships tab in the right pane you will have the option to add the useraccount to groups in the same domain as the account. The upper list show the groups that the user is a member of and the lower list show all other groups in the domain / server. Once you click on a group in one of the grouplists, the description of the group is presented directly under the corresponding grouplist to assist you.

The account tab is most useful if you are working with an AD-Domain OU. If you are working with an NT4 domain or server all fields except for the account expirationfield are disabled. From here you can update the users login name and the name of the SAM account (referred to as the Pre-Windows 2000 login name). If there are more than one domainsuffix available in your enterprise they are listed in the user logon name section ( in this case dev.dware.com )

Creating new users / useraccounts

When you press the "Add" button the from the user management interface the Create new user dialog will be presented to you. You will be prompted for data of  the useraccount to be created. If you have specified default values in the application options they will be added as you input the values in the fields. Only the username and the password fields are mandatory, all other fields are optional.

If you have specified to create homedirectory and set ACL:s those operations will be done at the same time as the account is created. When the account is created you may create another, the dialig remains open until you close the window. When you are finished press the "Close" button and you will return to the Manage Users screen. You can now assign the users to the groups you wish and / or update properties of the accounts you have created.
